People Analytics and Individual Autonomy: Employing Predictive Algorithms as Omniscient Gatekeepers in the Digital Age Workplace

People Analytics is a powerful tool with immense promise for enhancing organizational insights. However, this Note argues that employers’ unfettered use of opaque predictive algorithms, which are trained on behavioral data to profile workers and guide employment outcomes, represents significant threat individual autonomy. Part II explores the emergence as continuation merger historical approaches scientific management in American workplace. III contrasts benefits analytics against uniquely intrusive, non-transparent, sometimes arbitrary manner they currently deployed workers. IV discusses how may hasten erosion employees’ normative rights It then insufficiency existing regulatory common law mechanisms protect from or discriminatory decisionmaking based algorithmic profiling. Finally, V reviews some proposed solutions, emphasizing importance employee voice need proactive regulations enforce transparency individuals’ privacy
